Career Start is currently seeking a Senior Interior Designer in Rochester, NY. To be considered for this position, preferred candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in interior design, architecture, or related field and 7 plus years of Commercial Interior Design experience.
The Senior Interior Designer will be responsible for independent project delivery involving meticulous coordination and supervision of various project aspects. This includes crafting Schematic Designs (SD) to Construction Documents (CD), encompassing design elevations, millwork drawings, finish selections, and schedules, alongside creating 3D renderings and integrating interior finishes and details. Additionally, it entails the selection and specification of furniture, appliances, general-use equipment, and medical equipment tailored to individual client projects.
Pay of Senior Interior Designer:
$80,000 to $110,000 based on experience
Responsibilities of Senior Interior Designer:
Engage with internal clients to ascertain project needs.
Lead programming sessions and compile concise reports summarizing discussions.
Conduct physical inventory checks and generate comprehensive reports.
Develop project documentation encompassing scope, budget, and timelines, including Schematic Designs (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documents (CD).
Produce space plans, finish plans, dimensioned drawings, finish schedules, specifications, and 3D visualizations.
Curate interior finishes, lighting, and acoustics to achieve desired spatial ambiance.
Demonstrate proficiency in ADA and building regulations.
Evaluate the suitability of new furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E), or explore reuse options for existing assets.
Ensure the creation of ergonomic and functional workspaces.
Support bid document creation and manage submission reviews and Request for Information (RFI) responses.
Maintain project documentation, including drawings, meeting minutes, and files.
Solicit quotes from vendors and facilitate work orders for owners.
Coordinate supplementary requirements like signage, artwork, and appliances.
Identify transitional needs for spaces and define corresponding scopes of work.
Supervise vendor activities, including installations and relocations.
Manage project punch lists and ensure completion of outstanding tasks.
Requirements of Senior Interior Designer:
Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or another related field
Seven or more years with experience in Commercial Interior Design
At least five years of experience using Revit Architecture 2020 – 2023, preferred.
At least five years of experience using AutoCAD 2020 – 2023 and, Adobe Photoshop
Intermediate level in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook;
Experience with MS Project, Enscape and/or Animation software a plus
NCIDQ, USGBC LEED, and/or Well AP certifications desired but not required
Travel is occasional but will be required within Upstate New York to administer project work
